Sponsorship Opportunities

In his book, Last Child in the Woods – Saving Our Children from Nature-Deficit Disorder, author Richard Louv writes: "…at the very moment that the bond is breaking between the young and the natural world, a growing body of research links our mental, physical, and spiritual health directly to our association with nature – in positive ways.”  Now is the time to get our young people out into the woods to not only connect them to nature, but to also work with them to become citizen stewards to take care of the land that is ours to treasure.

The effects of modern life can sometimes work to blunt our connection with the natural world. Children need nature for the healthy development of their senses, and, therefore for learning and creativity. The MyForest Summit seeks to link middle school students with the outdoors, while fostering a sense responsibility in the stewardship of our public lands. Shared work projects benefit students with the feelings of pride and accomplishment that come from experiencing and working in the outdoors, opening their eyes to their own place in the natural world.
